A Dream Come True
by Adam F. Hodges Myerson

For three seasons, from 1996-1998, I was lucky enough to be sponsored by Richard Sachs for cyclo-cross.  Most people would excited to be able to simply buy one of Richard's bikes; how excited was I to get two matching frames each season to tackle the 'cross season on? His bikes took me all over the world and into multiple jerseys.  Riding for Richard, I won races in the New England 'cross series, wore the series leader's jersey, won collegiate 'cross nationals, and raced in the SuperPrestige circuit in Europe.

Better than all of that was simply the process of getting to know Richard, and working together with him to develop the perfect bike.  Afternoons in Chester taking measurements, talking shop, lunch at the quintessential sandwich shop next door; all those things went in to what turned out to be beautiful, functional, and race winning bikes.

Team changes and other sponsorship commitments have seen me on other bikes since then, but for the years following I kept the newest two bikes hanging in my garage, looking forward to the day I'd be able to race on them again.  I recently decided that it might be another decade before I got that chance, and it seemed selfish to hoard my treasure.  So, if you see someone out there on a beautiful red and white RS 'cross bike with my name under the paint, you'll know that's one of the pair that gave me so much success and so many great experiences.  I'm convinced those things will stay with the bikes, and hopefully fulfill the new owners the way it did me.  I'm indebted to Richard for giving me the shoulders to stand on, and am proud to have been able to wear his name on my back.
