Jonathan Page Shows His Talent in Belgium
Sources: cyclo-cross.info and cyclocrossworld.com

Jonathan Page has won in Belgium, taking the Category B cyclocross race in Drongen-Baarle, Belgium on Sunday, December 1, following a fantastic showing in Saturday's UCI Cat 1 cyclocross race in Koksijde the previous day.

Page, who didn't get a contract to start in the SuperPrestige race in Holland (Gieten) was the best rider on a very muddy circuit. The Spanish champion David Seco was second, Belgian amateurs Rudi Van De Sompel and Geert Vandaele third and fourth.

As usual, Page took a very quick start, building an advantage of 15 seconds on his nearest chasers on the first lap alone.

By the halfway mark, Spanish rider David Seco fought his way back up to Page, but when Seco had to change bike after a flat tyre, Page accelerated again. This time he was gone for good, eventually building his advantage to a 90 seconds by the finish.

It was the first victory for Jonathan on Belgian soil.

Saturday's race, a classic as far as cyclocross is concerned, is also called the Dunes Race, held on the 2002 Belgian National Championship course which favors riders that excel on a super technical parcours.

Belgian rider Ben Berden was not affected by the multiple spills many riders were taking in the sand, and dominated the rest of the field by the halfway mark, claiming his second win of the season with 30 seconds to spare. Jonathan Page apparently likes the sand, and finished with a very respectable thirteenth place.
